Sirs:

I have read your free download on the Family Groupings of Kenpo on the Elite-Fighters site. I loved it! So, I bought the video tapes that go along with it and was further enlightened. This summer I attended a seminar with a guy who was teaching on this topic. He didn't know all of the family groupings that are mentioned in your manual and videos. After searching a few other places I find that there is a great discrepancy on how many Family Grouping, or Root Techniques that there are.

I have been a student of the Elite-Fighters system for abouyt 18 months now. ALthough I haven't learned all of the root techniques, I can finally see how it is all coming together.

So, my question is - do you think the discrepancy of the lack of knowledge of all of the roots is because they don't know them, Ed Parker did not teach everyone all of them, or that there is only partial knowledge spread throughout the AK world. It is very apparent from your materials that you guys really know them.

Thanks for the knowledge!!

I'm sure that the inconsistency is in large part due to a lack of knowledge or an incomplete understanding. Also, the various re-inventions of Kenpo that has taken it from the 24 techniques per belt to 16 (or even 10 in some cases) has made it impossible to study Kenpo the way it was intended. Ed Parker never made his system a secret. Consider the following points:

1. It is clearly stated in Infinite Insights Into Kenpo, volume 5, that the techniques that are listed are the "requirements" for the system. I am a consistently amazed at the audacity that some people have to say that Ed Parker was wrong. Remember, he created the system so I'm sure he knew what he was talking about! This is just a weak attempt by others to set themselves up to be the "authority" by re-writing history.

2. Ed Parker never made it a secret in any of his magazine articles, seminars, or lessons that there are in fact 18 Family Groupings. Look at the cover of the Encyclopedia of Kenpo and you will see a clue to this that he used in one of his last seminars.

3. Anyone who just gives you a list or says that "there are many ways of looking at family groupings" obviously has no understanding of the topic.

4. Finally, ask someone to explain it as thoroughly as our free download. If someone cannot answer ALL of your questions to your satisfaction and impart to you a complete understanding of Family Groupings where you can understand it and become an expert yourself, obviously is fooling himself and trying to fool you.
