I have finally made my way (reading anyway) entirely through the Karambit materials. At first glance one might notice that there are not that many combat scenarios. Some people might want the next DVD to come out to learn more scenarios. I showed the DVD to someone and the remark was, "Wow! Isn't there anymore?" When you break the techniques down and notice how much is in each combat scenario how could you possibly ask such a question!?

I really like how the scenarios are broken down photo by photo to demonstrate the locks, takedowns/finishers etc. The accompanying DVD brings everything together, but the still photos really help me visualize each step. This introduction to the Karambit exposes the infatuation with demanding countless numbers of techniques. I have been thinking about Flame of the Dragon for two days! Time to start working on the basics so these techniques actually mean something!

This is only Volume One! Future releases will focus on specialized moves and methods such as grappling and lethal finishing moves.

Although the Elite Fighter System focuses primarily upon modern weaponry such as the baton (stick), knife, and firearms, there is a section of study (Peripheral Studies) devoted to Specialized, Exotic, and Archaic weaponry. The Karambit falls within this field of study. When we developed the system, we felt that there were still some essential lessons, information, and skills that could be obtained through these studies. So, rather than discarding this great body of knowledge, we preserved it in an elective course of instruction.

I was very pleased to read this statement that you wrote: "Time to start working on the basics so these techniques actually mean something." That's what it is all about. Perfecting the basics so that whatever may follow, will actually mean something. Unfortunately, many seek to acquire countless techniques first. Even though the Elite Fighter system contains a great body of PCS's, all are based upon only 24. We have simply provided many examples to show some of the most effective permutations of these essential PCS's. This gives the student a framework from which to develop his own defenses and provides effective defenses that he can use immediately (if needed) before he has developed his skills.

Keep training!
