I found a neat little thing that allows me to watch my Kenpo DVDs on my Nintendo DS Lite. Now I can get more lecture/review time as I ride the train to work.

My how we have moved past pocket chess sets and the like for on the go analysis!!!

We need a video game where the hero utilizes Kenpo basics with the possibility of creating more complex techs to fight bad guys...that would be sweet.

I understand I'm responding to a very old post --- but I had to chime in by saying that I would totally support a Kenpo video game --- executing Delayed Sword to perfection vs. a 3-armed Alien would be very gratifying.... :D

I think it would require a Wii-like controller; true 3-d accelerometers at the hands, feet, elbows, and knees. Someone would have to serve as the model, get strapped into the motion detection gear in a computer lab, and run through the techniques.

Time, labor, and money intensive but I think that it would be worth it. If I ever win the lottery, I'll gladly bankroll such a product. I think it would be a great Ideal Phase training tool.

Hey, I picked up Assassin's Creed for PS3 a couple of days ago. The ability to grab your opponent and throw him in any direction is nice. I was working some multi-opponent scenarios against those guards LOL. Too bad I can't kick and elbow/knee too!

Back to the OP, I did something similar but not totally portable. I just nabbed an old hard drive and stuck it in a computer that is set up for streaming audio/video then copied all the DVDs to there. Then I use the xbox 360 in our living room or the old xbox converted to a media center to stream the videos over the home network.

I was contemplating adding my own bookmarks per video by technique but have been too lazy to do that as I am working on something different and more time consuming at the moment. Nevertheless it is much safer considering I have 4 kids ranging from 2-12 who don't always have the respect they should have for things such as CDs/DVDs etc... Now I just keep the originals put away safely with my books.

But you got me thinking about portability now. Both my PocketPC and my MP3 player can handle 16GB microSD cards, also flash drives are a dime a dozen. It may not be a bad idea to invest the time to convert them for use on one of my mobile devices or even just to stick on a flash drive to watch from work during down time (or listen to the repetition of the audio when actually doing other things). I already carry my manuals with me for quick lookups.

I recently got a Windows Mobile OS smartphone. I now convert the DVD into mp4 files and they run just fine. About 300MB per file at the end of the process with 4:3 aspect, normal video, normal audio, and screen size less than 200x200.
