Greetings...

Some people say that Right step through punches are not "realisticly" trained in traditional settings.

I tend to agree that the way it is delivered by training partners in many ocassions is not an accurate depiction of an initial strike that has deadly intent behind it.

Yet I ask, should we train to defend against it. Here is just one remark about it.

Just wanted to add that people many times do a right step-through after a hard right punch if they are committed and are unbalanced. The step is to regain balance after the punch per se.

So it would be more "realistic" training to throw a hard right with the left leg forward and after the punch keep the forward momentum and regain balance with the right step through.

Also, the step can set up a left punch.
