We are proud to announce the publication of "The Kenpo Compendium".
http://www.arnis.org/products/compendium.htm
This book was a project fo the American Kenpo Research Council and took over 2 years to complete.
The purpose of the book is to chronicle all of the "official" versions of the techniques from the beginning to the present day. We have also included popular variations in the techniques which are popularized by influencial black belts such as Larry Tatum and Richard "Huk" Planas. We used only historical and acurate documents as source material. Individuals who contributed verbal information had to be verified through historical documents. These documents included books, notes, manuals and film that was either available only to instructors, official Ed Parker schools or through Ed Parker himself.
In keeping with the chronology and development of Kenpo, we have included reference to all three popular versions of the Kenpo Curriculum--the 16-24-32 Systems. In addition, we have organized the material to enable the reader to quickly access any Base Technique or Extension from any one of these systems.
Also included are:
Positional Relationships
Attack Directions
Explanations of the Names
Historic Footnotes
Alternate Versions
Performance Notes
Related Techniques
and more...
This can be used as a manual to reference any technique and also as a source book for further research. In fact, it is the foundation of a new project we have underway (more details will follow as the project nears completion).

I have to totally agree - this is a wonderful work! This volume is completely Eric's design and research (although I may have been in the background). I wish that this were available 20 years ago.
In case you have not looked at the ad - you also get the Library of Kenpo free - for a limited time!

Hello Gentlemen ~
I must say . . . this sounds to be a commendable work . . . taking the documentation of Kenpo techniques a step higher. Congratulations to Eric & Kevin for their dedication, and the insightful use of their organization/membership to further the quality of (American) Kenpo as a whole.
Sincerely,

Congratulations Mr. Eric Lamkin on a fine compendium. People interested in Kenpo will find that it is a big step forward in organizing and understanding the art. The manner in which the information is organized and with the comprehension level of the author makes studying the art more efficient.

Mr. Lamkin (Eric),
Just an idea to throw around, what about embedded video clip of the rapid review (or in that style) of the technique.
I regularly use the compendium and really enjoy the way it was organized. I can practice related techniques.

-LanceWe have considered this, however, the Rapid Review material is 3 DVDs long. In addition, we are writing many of the variations that exists between the major kenpo associations. Therefore, we found it too impractical to include clips in the Compendium. However, for those who have gotten the Compendium, we are about to release new files that fill in more information relating the systems. This will soon be announced, so get your Compendium of Kenpo now!

Will there be a similar compendium for the forms and sets?

This is one of our projects. It may be along time before it is complete due to the complexity of the forms.

We are currently underway on an expanded edition of the Compendium which includes additional variations and historical information. It will also (for the first time in print) describe how all the techniques relate to one another using Black Dot/White Dot Focus, Universal Pattern etc.
A Forms and Sets Compendium is in the works. It will detail the progression and variations of all Forms and Sets throughout Kenpo history.
Finally, a DVD version of the Compendium is planned to demonstrate how the techniques differ.
