I am a current 3rd degree brown in tracy Kenpo and know I can progress in your system from 3rd brown to black and beyond. My question is, would it be best to start over from yellow and move up since this is the Ed Parker system?

Hello Dobber,
You will find it best to study the entire system. However, you will find it relatively easy for you to pick up. Accomplishing 3rd Brown shows that you have the knack for learning and performing the complexities of kenpo. The differences between the systems are minor, regarding movement and basics. However, terminology and theory are things that you will need to pay particular attention to.
We respect the rankings that you have previously earned. Therefore, your next promotional exam should be 2nd Brown. The AKLA requires cummulative tests. Therefore, your 2nd Brown exam will consist of all material from Yellow through 2nd Brown. We have found that cummulative tests yield the best promotions, and keeps that material fresh with the practitioner, and keeps him in optimal physical condition.
Good Luck!
