Welcome to the Physics of the Martial Arts. In this forum, we will be discussing the science behind the martial arts. In particular, we will be analyzing the function of Kenpo concepts and how they relate to the real world of physics.

While posting and replying to threads in this forum, it is not necessary to detail a great deal of the math that is involved. In fact, it is the concepts that are important here, the math is the details that can be worked to privately, so as to not turn away the non-mathematical students.

In this forum, we will continue the work detailed in our new "Physics of the Martial Arts" 2-DVD set that was released on 2-8-06. (Click for more information (http://arnis.org/products/physics1.htm)) In this work we will detail:

Technique Decompostition - what are the true power sources of each technique, and how you can improve on them? Speed versus Velocity - when should each be considered for analysis? Reaction Time - how can it be improved upon? Collisions - which type of collision is most beneficial to the outcome of an encounter? Energy Types - this will let you know how and when to apply a force. Focus - what is focus in the real world of physics? Chi - is there such a thing? Chaos - how does it apply to martial arts? Analytical Equipment - what devices can be used to obtain true measures of the physics of the martial arts? and much moreSo, put on your thinking caps and take off your ego cloaks, and we will begin!
