Maximus,
Are the defender level manuals ( CD-rom) similar format as the The Unabridged Library of Contemporary Kenpo?

I'll let Maximus speak more of this, but you will like these manuals even more than the Library of Kenpo that we wrote eleven years ago. There is much more information about the theory, application and training for realistic combative readiness.

The Library of Kenpo, also called the Unabridged Library of Contemporary Kenpo, was a project originally begun in late 1989. It's purpose was to provide a detailed examination of the American Kenpo system. After receiving high accolades from Ed Parker, it became the authoritative reference manual for American Kenpo.

The same detail and analysis that you found in the Library of Kenpo will also be found in the manuals for the Elite Fighter System. However, the Library was confined within the logic of Kenpo and was therefore limited in scope.

The Elite Fighter System of Modern Combat was originally developed only for family members and a select group of students. It was jealously guarded from the general public; however, after witnessing the decline of martial arts in America, we felt compelled to present this work to the general public.

The Classic edition of the manuals provides a detailed and comprehensive look at the entire system. Nothing is held back. It is common practice in the martial arts to hold back "secret" information and have "hidden moves". This is practice was designed by power-hungry and inept black belts to create an environment of servitude in the school. We did not want this to occur in this system. We know that it is not the knowledge that creates a great fighter, it is his training. American Kenpo has many "knowledgeable" black belts but few, if any, real fighters.

We are leading the martial art community in modern and innovative instructional materials. Slated for intial release summer of 2004 will be resource materials on DVD and in 2005 we will announce the release of an interactive CD-ROM.

Thanks for your question,

Maximus

Cool, a definite purchase for me then! Probably the first full week of Aug.
BTW, is there an age limit to the system? I know you all used to offer a kids class, I was just wanted to know if the system is to much for an 8 yr old?

Thanks

The intensity of the training is too much for children. In addition, there are certain aspects of the system, such as knife fighting and firearms training that are strictly for adults. Incidentally, practitioners must abide by state laws concerning the purchase, possession, and training of such weapons.

I'm assuming that the eight year old is your son. We want early training for our children too. So, the Institute of Modern Personal Combat Tactics and Training (the parent organization of the Elite Fighter System of Modern Personal Combat) will release a program specifically designed for youth in early 2004. Watch for more information.

Thanks for an awesome product! Keep up the great work

Thank you very much for the kind remarks. It's alot to take in at once so take your time reading it. I recommend that you look over the entire training level so that you have a good idea where your training is headed.

Remember, this is just the FIRST level of training. There are five more to go. There's even greater things waiting! So, start training and stay with the program. You'll be amazed at what you will learn and the skills that you will develop.

[I suppose it is ok to resurrect on old thread.]

I am pleased to hear that the Elite-Fighter manuals exceed the standard set by the Library of Kenpo manuals. I was so impressed by the Library of Kenpo that it is hard to imagine how the Elite-Fighter material could possibly surpass it.
This makes me curious.

I have read a few of the downloads that are available for Elite-Fighters.
The examination score sheet is a little intimidating. I'm not as young as I once was; although, I suppose that I am not quite "old" yet (I am certainly out of shape though!). [An aside: isn't it funny how many people who have trained in Kenpo for years regularly fail to maintain their physical fitness levels?]
The download for Reactionary Defensive Methods is interesting. It is very interesting. That is one download that is worth printing out.

Even after reading assurances to the contrary, I remember thinking, "How could this "new" system, at the beggining levels, possibly equal a 4th or 5th degree black belt." Judging by the Introdution to Reactionary Defensive Methods, I think it might be possible.

Hello Theban_Legion,

We always attempt to make our manuals are complete as possible. Our new material is easier to read, and very in-depth.

One of the main driving factors concerning how we deisgned the testing process of the Elite-Fighters system is in regard to 'fighting fitness'. As you are aware, many black belts get out of shape over the years, particularly Kenpoists. Our testing system (The Trials) enforces that each participant not only knows mentally how to execute the material, but and physically perform them. This method of training and testing has helped me greatly in road to get back in shape. The road is still long, but I can now see the finish line.

Get involved and train hard.

Awesome! Glad to hear this.

When I was in the Infantry physical fitness was non-negotiable. If you were out of shape, your squad leader smoked you back into shape. The mentality was, "If you can't run 2 miles, do your push-ups or sit-ups, then you will be unable to carry on during combat." (Though we trained incessantly, I was very lucky to never have had to enter combat. My thoughts are with our soldiers.) I think your idea of mandating "fighting fitness" is outstanding (still a little intimidated, it's been awhile since I had to get my heart rate up for anything :) ). Perhaps this is what I need, a goal to shoot for. A mind without a goal is like a bullet without a target.
